He’s doing WHAT?

Tom Brady is leaving Foxborough.

I have to say that I did not see this one coming at all. I figured Tom would stay and finish out his career for the patriots. But I guess not. There is word out that the 6 time Super Bowl champion is headed to the Tampa Bay buccaneers. Which is crazy in and of it self because they kind of stink.

But I think Tom is really trying to prove something by going there. He is really out to prove that he’s really the greatest of all time. If he goes to the Buccs and somehow makes them a winning team again the glory would go all to him. Nobody else would get any credit. I really think that Brady is making a mistake. If he goes to Tampa Bay and goes under .500 then the narrative could shift to something nobody is willing to say.

“Tom Brady just is not as good as he used to be. He is done.”

What’s Next for Cam?

Former NFL League MVP Cam Newton has parted ways with the Carolina Panthers.

With everything going on, this is one of the last things I saw coming. I had no idea that there were issues going on inside of the organization to start with. But with Greg Olsen retiring and now Cam Newton leaving, it’s hard not to question the state of the Carolina Panthers right now.

On Instagram the team captioned a picture of Cam saying “We have given cam permission to seek a trade”

The superstar quickly responded saying “Stop with the word play! I never asked for it! theres no dodging this one; I love the Panthers to death and will always love you guys! Please do not try and play me or manipulate the narrative and act like I wanted this; you forced me into this. -Love”

Well thats a lot, and clearly that tells you how things are going behind closed doors at the Panthers facility. And no we know what happened next. So now the question remains.. Whats next for Cam Newton?

Where should he go?

I have two destinations that will be ideal for him. I think the Atlanta Falcons would be a solid destination for Cam. I think he would fit in well there and that they would be a solid team. Im not sure how long it would take them to be contending for an actual Super Bowl. But they could be a solid team, and I think Cam could shine there.

But the other team I think Cam should try his hand at (Just hear me out) Is the New England Patriots. They just lost Tom Brady. Which honestly wasn’t really that big of a deal because if you look at his numbers and how he’s been playing there is a considerable drop off in his numbers. But if Cam were to go to the Patriots they might have a chance of actually doing something next year. We all know that Bill Belicheck has one of the greatest minds that football has ever seen. But now he’s got his word cut out against him. His team isn’t great and right now they don’t have a quarterback that is actually going to do any significant for the team. If he could land Cam that would be a big first step. The next step would be keeping Cam healthy and getting him to play like his MVP season again.

So it all falls on Cam. If he plays at the capacity he is capable of playing, I am by no means saying they will be Super Bowl bound because they need more pieces on their roster, I think they have a very good season and probably a better season than they did last year.

So the ball is in their court. Now only time will tell where Mr. Newton ends up..

Are the playoffs realistic?

The New Orleans Pelicans and their loyal fanbase believe that a late playoff push is possible.

I however don’t think that it is.

Trust me, I think this team is on the come up and that in the next two to three years they could be a dominant force in the west. But I don’t think that right now is a chance for them to get in the playoffs. They are missing some key pieces to be successful. Although they are very young, which can be good, they are missing some key things on offense. One key player I think they need to get rid of is Josh Hart. In all honesty I think that Josh is a clown. I really don’t think that he is a good player and most of his time spent on the court is turning the ball over and missing shots. They need to space the floor, run out in transition and lock up on perimeter defense. Josh hart doesn’t fit anywhere in there. If you ask me, they should start there if they are looking for improvement.

But, although they might not make the playoffs this year, that gives Zion time in the offseason to lose some weight. It gives there perimeter players time to work on their game and try and learn how to play with each other better. But I don’t see a playoff appearance happening this season.

Where do they rank in the NBA?

I still believe that the clippers are a top 3 team in the NBA. Recently that havent been playing their best brand of basketball. But I an still confident that they could make it to the finals if they play their best basketball. This is still the team who has rocked some western conference teams. But this is also the team who has lost to a lot of below average teams as well. I think their success is going to heavily depend on Kawhi and their depth coming off of the bench. But they very much have a chance to do some real damage in the playoffs this year. But they shouldn’t get their hopes up yet, because there is still a lot of games to be played.

The MVP Race

Alright lets be honest the MVP race is really between two people.

Giannis Antetokounmpo and Lebron James

Honestly its very close. Which isn’t hard to believe considering all of the players in the game right now who are playing at an extremely high level. But it’s definitely between these two players right now.

Who Ya Got?

Honestly, I really don’t know.. Yes i’m admitting to not actually being sure on who the MVP of the league is. These guys are both playing at an extremely high level right now.

Lebron is averaging 25.4 ppg 7.4 rebounds and 10.7 assists

Giannis is averaging 29.8 ppg 13.8 rebounds and 5.8 assists

Like those numbers are insane, Lebron is in his 17th season still playing at an all time high. But we’ve got to be honest for a second. He has Anthony Davis, who is also a top 5 player in the NBA at the moment. I think people overlook him because Lebron is on the team. But AD is having a great season himself. But what is so impressive is that lebron is still playing extremely well in his 17th season and his team has the best record in the tough Western Conference right now.

Giannis is pretty hard to stop at the moment. Yes his numbers are extremely impressive is that he is leading the league in PER (player efficiency rating). But not only in the entire league, but of all time. He is also #1 in defensive win shares. Which puts him in a great case for best defender in the league. And the bucks have the best record in the league with a 52-9. But then again, he is in the Eastern Conference. So how impressive is that record?

So really its going to come down to are the MVP voters going to vote based on the story? Or are they going to vote based on how much the player has elevated their team to the top and how well they are playing?

I guess only time will tell..

Beal: Commended or Condemned?

Bradely Beal..

Probably one of, if not the, most underrated players in the entire NBA.

Has been on a MISSION this year.

In his past 5 games he’s had

34 points 8 assists and 5 Steals

42 points 10 assists 5 rebounds

30 points 5 assists 5 rebounds

55 points 3 assists 3 rebounds

53 points 4 assists 3 rebounds

He’s been on an absolute tear this season averaging 30 ppg 4.3 rebounds and 6.1 assists per game

He has been putting the league on NOTICE. But theres one problem…

The Wizards still aren’t winning games. With a 22-37 record they hold the 9th seed in a weak eastern conference. And now people are kind of wondering “Why is he still there?” In a league where players have very little loyalty to a team, when they are sick of losing they leave with a quickness. I’ve seen people on twitter say that he can’t be mad with the below average team he has because he’s chosen to stay there. But should he really be condemned for sticking with the team? Or should he be commended for staying and sticking with his team even though he sucks?

Personally I think he should stick it out another few years. If he can stay when a healthy John Wall comes back, and they can acquire a decent center I feel as though they could be very good.

But it all depends on how Beal feels when his contract runs out..

What is taking so long?

I am a cowboys fan..

And I have been a Cowboys fan since I was a little kid. So i’m sure you can imagine my frustration with the team and the organization as a whole for the past few years. It all started a few years ago when we first got Ezekiel Elliot and Dak Prescott. Man did they take the league by storm. After that first wonder season when we went 13-3 I thought to myself “man we’re gonna be great” and now its about 4 years later and we cant even secure a winning record.

What seems to be the problem?

I don’t think that our team sucks. Which, depending on who you ask, is an arguable statement. We have plenty of talent on the team, including Dak and Zeke. We’ve got capable receivers, and a solid offensive line. Our defense isn’t great but it isn’t bad. But I always thought that the worst aspect of our team was our coaching staff. Other than our offensive coordinator I thought our team really lacked leadership and a coach who could effectively win us games. Jason Garrett was holding our team back. Sure, he’s a nice guy but I never really thought he was a great coach. And thankfully this past offseason he got fired. Former Green Bay packers coach Mike Mccarthy took over the head coach position this past offseason and hopes to bring a winning record in next season. Zeke just got a 50 million dollar contract extension. But something is still missing. Dak

Dak still hasn’t signed a new contract yet….

I don’t understand what the big issue is. Dak needs to stop being a child begging for more and the Cowboys front office needs to stop being stingy with their money. Because at the end of the day I do believe in Dak as a franchise QB. But he is asking for too much money and he needs to prove himself as a QB first. Im not sure why Its taking him so long, but in oder to get to winning ways we need everyone on the same page.

Quite The Resume

Patrick Mahomes has really made a name for himself in his first two years as a starting quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs.

And it keeps getting crazier and crazier..

In his first two years as a starter he’s:

Thrown 50 touchdowns in a single season

Threw 5,000 yards in his first season as a starting quarterback

Won NFL league MVP

Two time pro bowler

Won a super bowl

Won a super bowl MVP

And those are just the stats. If you take time and watch this man throw a football you will see that he is indeed special. His ability to be agile and flexible in the pocket helps extend the play, and this powerful and accurate throwing ability complements his game and the offense perfectly. Not only is he gifted in the game of football but he is also a great leader. There have been multiple games where the chiefs have been down big (including the super bowl) and Mahomes is seen and heard giving a great speech to his guys on the sideline telling them things like “It isn’t over” and “We can do something special”. He trusts his coaching staff and has a lot of faith in his teammates. He is a true leader and is truly gifted in the game of football and I think right now there isn’t a better player in the NFL.

And he’s only 24..

Is this the fall of Barca?

One of Europes most well known, and highly respected football clubs has been nothing short of a zoo in the past few months. The team has been faced with multiple injuries, numerous office changes and a new coaching change as well. After firing Ernesto Valverde Barcelona decided to hire Quique Setién. In the past few months when I have sat down and watched an entire game, it leaves me asking the question “what is happening?”. Lack of aggression, the team chemistry is all over the place, we’re not taking advantage of scoring opportunities, were letting teams walk all over us on the defensive side. Its just not good soccer. Which is a sentence I never thought I would use when describing Barcelona. A team that is known for its quick, crisp passes. It’s beautiful, flashy plays. And variety of amazing goals. Now it seems like all fans and supporters of teams can do is just hope and pray that we somehow can score a goal. Which is hard to believe with all of the talent that is on the roster. Big names known for making big plays. Although players like Luis Suarez and Osumane Dembele are out with injury. Those are two big hits to the team. Dembele who can use either foot to score goals, is a dynamic winger who really doesn’t have much weakness in his play. Right now hie biggest weakness is that he cant stay healthy.

Which is a darn shame. The kid is so talented, and also extremely young. He’s 22 and when healthy plays very well. Luis Suarez, who is arguably a top 5 striker, has fallen with an injury as well and wont be back to playing for Barca for 5 months. Although he can be a bit inconsistent at times, he is still very crucial to the attack play of Barcelona. With two big players out with injury, that for sure hurts the team a little. But there is still plenty of talent on the team. Like Antoine Griezmann a very versatile forward, Frankie De Jong an extremely young but very talented midfielder, and a very underrated Sergio Busquets. Plenty of talent and great players, but theres just one more who I haven’t mentioned. He’s arguably the best soccer player in the world, maybe ever the greatest of all time. His name is

Lionel Messi

One of the worlds most recognized athletes. Many soccer players acknowledge that Messi is perhaps the greatest talent to ever have kicked a soccer ball. His ability to score goals from anywhere, the quick pace, the dribbling, the ball control, the spectacular goals, vision and passing ability, and amazing free kicks. Messi is in a class of his own. But the recent play of he and his team say otherwise. He has been anything but his usual self. There have even been rumors that after his contract is up, he might leave the club. I’m not sure if the rumors are true or not, its hard to tell. I feel like if the team continues to under preform and lose key games en route to more trophies, he could leave. The team has already been knocked out of the Copa Del Rey, Supercopa de Espana, and are in second place in terms of the La Liga league table. There’s not a whole lot of silverware left to attain. Coming up is the group stage of the Champions league, Europes best of the best all coming together to battle out for the Champions League trophy. A trophy that has been far from Lionel Messi for years now.

Can Barcelona overcome the head office drama and team injuries to string together key wins?

Can Lionel Messi elevate his play, and the play of his teammates in order to become the champions of Europe once again?

Can Messi give Barcelona, the fans and supporters, another chapter of Messi Magic?

I guess we shall soon find out..

What is Going on With Kyrie?

Kyrie Irving, Uncle Drew, Mr. Take ya ankles, Mr. Fourth Quarter, Mr. You reach I teach, Mr.Handle. The man of many names has been faced with a great deal of adversity over his career. He has had multiple injuries, and some off of the court trauma as well. One of those being off court things being the death of his grandfather. And recently something that has effected him was the tragic death of his close friend and mentor Kobe Bryant. As for injuries, Kyrie has missed a little more than 20 games this season with injury. And now he will miss a few more, with a recent slight leg injury that was suffered in a game versus the Washington Wizards.

But what exactly is going on with Kyrie? I mean aside from the injuries, he looks good. I mean scary good. This is the same guy who recently put up 54 points on 86% shooting from the field. The only other two players to do something like that go by the names of Wilt Chamberlin and Michael Jordan. So in other words, he’s got some good company in that aspect. I mean seriously, this guy has scored 50 plus points three times this season. But why aren’t the nets doing better? I mean sure they don’t have Kevin Durant right now because he is out with injury for this season and probably some of the next. And on most nights they don’t always have Kyrie because he’s out with injury. But honestly when they do have him, they still aren’t looking that good. What can we expect when Kevin Durant comes back? And why aren’t the Nets as good as they were last year even when they have someone like Kyrie Irving?
